About Us

The Bridge to Better Health

Dauphin Island Medical LLC is the passion project of Tessie O’Quinn CRNP and grew from her vision of providing Dauphin Island and the surrounding communities with optimal, efficient, and effective health care to allow members to live their best, healthiest lives.

Through the generosity of Mayor Collier and the city council, a home was made at 1008 Alabama Avenue, just behind Town Hall. Dauphin Island Medical LLC has the best housemates ever in the Public Safety Office. A marriage made in heaven, together we can address the health needs of the Island.

Dauphin Island Medical LLC is a grassroots effort and heavily reliant upon the participation of our community members in order to grow. We would like to express our limitless gratitude to the volunteers and donors who have allowed us to serve this community. This clinic is not our clinic… it is the community’s clinic. We cannot take care of you if there is no you. We appreciate being a part of the community. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering or making a donation

For the time being we are open Monday through Thursday, 9am-2pm, with the last daily appointment time at 1:15pm. As our business grows, we look forward to expanding our availability. Available services include primary care, acute care visits, routine physicals, lab work, IV infusion/vitamin therapy, B 12 injections, salt therapy, and periodic special events.

We are happy to announce that we are able to accept the following insurances: Aetna, Ambetter, Cigna, Humana, Medicare, Tricare, and United Health Care. Please note that some policies from the marketplace are not accepted at this time, and payment will be due at the time of service.

Our Team

Tessie O'Quinn

Co-Founder/ CRNP

Tessie grew up in the New Orleans area and spent her summers with family in Fairhope, Alabama. At the age of 16 she was accepted into the class of 1989 at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. After completing high school, she moved to Baton Rouge, where she majored in psychology and minored in sociology. After graduation she was employed with a company that provided addiction and mental health services. She later returned to nursing school, where she discovered a passion for critical care nursing. She worked as a nurse in Baton Rouge and Charleston, SC, before landing in the Mobile area.

In 2011 Tessie returned to school, earning a master’s degree in nursing. She is certified in two specialties: Family Practice and Adult-Geriatric Acute Care. Since graduating she has worked in pulmonary, critical care, correctional, and internal medicine/acute care settings. While she has always loved working in a hospital setting, she realized that another passion was calling to her. Tessie moved to Dauphin Island in 2007. Soon after moving to the Island, she felt a desire to serve the community. In March 2024 Dauphin Island Medical opened its doors to the community. Tessie feels strongly that everyone deserves timely and thoughtful medical care that addresses the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. Her group intends to integrate yoga, meditation, mental health, and nutrition into conventional Western medicine in order to address clients’ needs.

Outside of healthcare, Tessie shares her love of nature with her spouse, Brian Jones. She combs the beaches to find “treasures” from which she often makes jewelry. She has enjoyed practicing yoga since first discovering it in 1995, in Baton Rouge, and loves to introduce others to the practice.
